apibrėžtis Technologas, kuris laboratorijoje atlieka įvairias žmogaus organizme esančių cheminių medžiagų ir jų atmainių analizes, siekdamas teikti informaciją, kuri būtų naudinga nustatant diagnozes, gydant ir atliekant ligų profilaktiką. Jis rūpinasi kraujo, šlapimo ir pan. mėginių analizių atlikimu, aiškinasi chemines vyksmų ypatybes, prisideda prie vaistams gaminti reikalingų cheminių ir biologinių medžiagų sukūrimo. Gali dirbti kiekvienoje laboratorijoje, kurioje atliekamos cheminės, biologinės arba biocheminės analizės.
